Privacy policy

The short version

tapdrillsizechart.com is a static reference site. There is no account to create, no form to submit and no database. I do not ask you for personal information and I have nowhere to put it if you gave it to me. What follows is about the third-party services the site uses.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages get used. It is loaded only on the live site, never in development. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information including:

• pages you view and how long you stay;
• roughly where you are, at city level, from your IP address;
• your browser, operating system and whether you are on a phone or a computer;
• the site or search that sent you here.

I use this to decide which sizes and charts to work on next. I do not try to identify individual visitors, and I do not combine this data with anything else.

You can opt out for every site at once with Google's browser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site, or by using any ad or tracker blocker. The charts work exactly the same either way: nothing on this site is gated behind analytics.

Advertising

The site does not currently show advertising. I intend to add Google AdSense in the future. When that happens:

• Google and its partners will use cookies to serve ads, and may serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other sites.
• Third-party vendors, Google included, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info.
• Opting out of personalised ads does not remove ads; it makes them less relevant.

This section is written ahead of time so it is in place before any ad code is. If you are reading it and still see no ads, nothing has been switched on yet.

Cookies this site sets itself

None. The light/dark theme choice is stored in your browser's local storage under tdsc-theme, which is not a cookie, is never sent to any server, and is readable only by this site in your own browser. Clear your browser data and it is gone.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes requests and may keep short-term logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. That processing is governed by Cloudflare's own privacy policy.

Email

If you email me, I have your message and your address. I use them to reply and nothing else: no list, no marketing, no sharing. Ask me to delete a message and I will.

Links out

Some pages link to tap makers, standards bodies and suppliers. Once you follow a link, that site's privacy policy applies, not this one. I have no control over and take no responsibility for what they do.

Children

This site is aimed at people doing machining and DIY work. It is not directed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, delete or export your personal data, and to object to it being processed. Since I hold none except for emails you choose to send, most of that is served by the opt-outs above. For anything Google holds, use the Google links in this policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. The significant change to expect is advertising being switched on.
